Spring Overview...

Compression Springs

Worldwide, compression springs are the most common type of spring utilized and possess a wide range of general uses from deodorant cans, car valve springs, seating solutions and toner cartridge mechanisms. Initially compression springs are coiled from round wire into a helix and consequently are designed to resist a compressive force dependent on their application. Innovative Springs can manufacture cylindrical, conical and tapered compression springs to customer requirements, either closed and ground or unground to various lengths and diameters.

Extension Springs

An extension spring possesses two hooks/loops, one on each end of a closed-coiled spring and consequently operate with a degree of tension. An extension spring is designed to stretch to a specific length dependent upon the application it is intended for. There are various forms of extension springs and can be commonly found within the working mechanisms of ‘sash’ window frames, as a counterbalance on a garage door and on the working parts of some seating solutions.

Innovative Springs manufacture extension springs using cold-coiling processes an array of ferrous and non-ferrous materials with various end-type loops and/or hooks.

Torsion Springs

There are two types of torsion spring, single and double torsion spring. These springs work via rotational movement, which allows for a flexible object to store mechanical energy when it is twisted. Examples of torsion springs include door handles (usually a single torsion spring) and car bonnet ‘release’ and ‘catch’ mechanisms where both types of single and double torsion springs are utilized.

At Innovative Springs we can help in the design of torsion springs to meet customer specific requirements. Single and double torsion springs can be manufactured from round and square wire.

Wireforms

At Innovative Springs, we also specialize in the development and manufacture of wireforms; wire formed into various shapes. We have been producing wireforms since the business began trading in 1989. Previous wireforms include catapults, bonnet locks, security gate mechanisms, car seat solutions and iso-fix bars.
